Clinical laboratory technicians perform laboratory tests to help diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases. They work under the supervision of medical technologists or laboratory managers to analyze bodily fluids, tissues, and other samples.
Key Responsibilities
- Collecting and preparing samples for testing.
- Performing routine laboratory tests and procedures.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Recording and analyzing test results.
- Adhering to safety and quality control procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field (minimum).
- Certification from a recognized certifying body (e.g., ASCP) (often required to work in hospital laboratories and research institutions).
